DESK SIZED TAIHU SCHOLAR'S ROCK

  We were quite surprised to obtain this rock.  It is very similar to one we sold a while back;  it may even have been the companion to the other piece.  As with the other rocks on our website, it comes from the bottom of Lake Taihu in China.  They come in all kinds of naturalistic forms; some vertical, some horizontal.  This is a desk or table sized rock, measuring 12 inches high by 14 inches wide.  It has wonderful wear, with many passages and erosions in the stone, as well as a pleasing arch shape.  It also has a good back as well as a front.  [A lot of scholar's stones only have one good viewable side.]  The base is older and well carved.  Use it as a focal point for contemplation or meditation, as scholars traditionally have done;  or just for decoration.   $1250
