19TH C. BURMESE WOODEN/GLASS ALTAR WITH BUDDHA

This was the altar that stood in our previous apartment.  It is a classic 19th c. piece with amazing carved detail.  I loved it and bought it, and amazingly the next year came upon the perfect matching buddha for it, which probably came from a similar altar.  It is some fairly lightweight wood, probably elm, with gilt and mercury glass.  There is a loss to the top.  It stands 22 inches high, and is wonderful in a room where the light catches it.  They still make altars in this form but the detail is nowhere near as good.  $1200
