19TH C. BURMESE BRONZE SHAN BUDDHA

This piece is on consignment from a long time customer.  The picture was taken at his house, and is therefore less good than I would ideally like.  The piece  looks better.   A classic Shan form and base, but with an interesting feature;  the face is far more Indian appearing than the usual Burmese buddha.  This is probably reflective of the migration of Indians into Burma for work after it became a British colony in 1886.  It stands 8 1/2 inches tall, and the patina is darker and nicer than the picture, especially on the face.  A very pleasing small buddha with legitimate age.
