LARGE JEWELED  19TH C. ROYAL MANDALAY BUDDHA

This buddha has been in our personal collection and stood in our parlor for a number of years. It is one of my wife's favorites.  It is inlaid with thousands of pieces of colored mercury glass, and virtually every one is intact.  It must have been devotedly attended to in the temple where it sat.  It falls somewhere between the classic Mandalay and the Konabaung style, because of the thin torso.  He stands 19 1/2 inches (49 cm) tall, and is made of teak.   Just a spectacular piece; especially when spotlighted to reflect off the glass.  $4200
